Manifesto reading 'There's no time like the present'

Nine Iterations

I chose lyrics from Machine Gun Kelly's song "Can't Look Back" because I think the message in it is important. The song is about Machine Gun Kelly trying to move on from a dark past, but struggling to do so healthily because of the destructive mind-set it left him with. Being too wary to take certain steps and move forward in life can be a big issue for many people, but hesitation is the enemy.

As well as enjoying the sound, lyrics and style of this song, I chose it because typical design for punk posters is very appealing to me.

I really enjoyed researching and progressing with this project. Portraying the loud, chaotic and aggressive themes that come with the punk genre was a lot of fun.

About me

My name is Nicole Picton and I am a first year Interaction Design student at Ulster University.

After Secondary School I knew I wanted to continue on in the creative sector and continue designing. With my other interests including media studies and psychology, I also wanted to find a way to continue in a career that included thinking about how the design will affect and benefit others. With a growing interest in code, for me, this course appeared to be perfect.

So far, IXD has taught me far more about design than I thought I'd learn in such a short period of time. My skills and knowledge have progressed massively since September, and I am looking forward to continuing on this learning curve.
